Overview
I have a pedigree in book publishing stretching back at least 20 years. I can do standalone design work, or illustration work, but my 'sweet spot' is in the marriage of page layout and illustrative components.
I have completed around 15 books for Dorling Kindersley as either a designer or illustrator (or both), and that includes probably a couple of thousand illustrations (in a number of different styles)! I like to tackle the less 'flamboyant' tasks too, such as infographics, logos and icons, step-by-step illustrations and so on. Cover art is also a speciality.
Psychology, Nature and Wellbeing are foremost in my areas of experience, and I pride myself on my ability to interpret text in a creative way where this is appropriate, suggesting visual metaphors that capture the essence of the text in a concise, expressive manner.
Beyond book publishing, I work more broadly for organisations such as charities and NFPs, in capacities that include photographic art direction, brand consultancy, copywriting and illustrative movie-making. I am happy to bring these skills and this experience to further elevate a project. Examples of the above are readily available.

Design and illustration work for (mostly) non-fiction titles, from initial design direction work to finished page layouts.
Self-employed
I have been offering a 'through-the-line' creative service to clients since 2012, from brand naming and identity creation, brand framework development, through to implementation. Along the way I create such things as photo libraries, brand guidelines, illustration style guides, illustrative movies, copy platforms and so on.
