Jennifer Herrington

Jennifer Herrington – Editor

Passionate and motivating editor with over a decade of experience editing adult and YA romance and romantic fiction.

Overview

I am an editor specializing in all genres of romance, including young adult, new adult, and adult, plus mystery including cozy and suspense.

Please note that my editorial experience is geared toward projects with some kind of romantic arc whether it's a primary element or a minor thread.

I've been editing romantic fiction for nearly twelve years and worked for various publishers, including Lyrical Press/Kensington Corporation. I've been offering freelance editing for six years providing various editorial services such as editorial assessments, developmental/content editing, copyediting, and proofreading to authors opting to go the self-publishing route.

As a former writer (who still dabbles in fiction writing), I know how scary and lonely the journey can be. I've also had that beyond negative critique that made me want to give up. It's that first-hand experience that has allowed me to become the editor that I am and creating a supportive, motivating, and positive environment for authors to learn and grow at any stage of their careers. Whether you're a newbie or a bestselling author, I can help polish that book and make it the best it can be.

Through positive feedback, I help indie authors work through the editorial process. That doesn't mean that I won't make recommendations or comment on things that aren't working or things that could be tweaked for a better reader experience, but it means that through positive language, constructive criticism, and a strong understanding of what it means to rip apart your manuscript, we will work through your manuscript to make it the best it can be.

I hope you'll reach out!

Jen is currently editing my third novel and I love her work! She tells me what is working in my manuscript first, then tells me what isn't working, why it isn't working, and how to fix it. Needless to say, I will be hiring her in the future.
