Anna B. – Editor

Senior editor with in-house experience + translator || Specfic + fantasy + kidlit + nonfiction || PRH, Kids Can Press, Editors Canada

Overview

I am an experienced editor with a passion for empowering authors. Whether you're a seasoned writer or embarking on your first book, I'll work with you to refine your manuscript and guide it toward publication.

Line editing:

• Finished your draft but need help making your writing shine?

• Want an in-depth sentence-level edit?

I'll help you refine your sentences for word choice, style, tense, flow, cliches, and clarity. Together, we'll zero in on each line, and create stronger prose line-by-line. This is more in-depth and subjective than copyediting. Here, we'll be nitpicking and interrogating your style.

Copy editing:

• Almost ready to publish or query?

• Worried about consistency, clarity and flow?

I'll help you polish the grammar, punctuation, and style so your readers or publishing professionals can focus on reading your story. And I'll use the Chicago Manual of Style to make sure your manuscript meets industry standards.

Proofreading:

• Self-publishing soon? Is your book typeset?

• Need a lighter edit than copyediting?

I'll work with you to catch typos, lingering errors, and layout issues to ensure your manuscript is polished and professional. I'll meticulously address any errors and inconsistencies, ensuring your writing shines.

Query review:

• About to start querying?

• Want professional feedback on your pitch?

I'll help you craft a query letter that gets noticed by agents and editors. I can help you navigate the vast void between an off-the-mark query letter and a query letter that gets results.

*I'm not currently available for editorial assessments and developmental edits.

Genres I love working with:

• Fantasy

• Sci-fi

• Paranormal/fantasy romance

• Picture books

• Nonfiction kidlit

• History

I work with seasoned writers looking to take their books to the next level and emerging writers embarking on their publishing journeys. I'll tailor my approach based on your personal needs.

Let's work together:

I'm committed to helping your story reach its full potential. I approach each project with sensitivity and careful attention, making suggestions for improvement without compromising your author's voice and your vision for the book.

Editing is my greatest passion, and I would love to use it to help you with your next writing project. If you would like to work with me, get in touch.

Happy writing!
