Jas Perry

Jas Perry – Editor

Literary Agent with 10 years in traditional publishing. Editorial at Scholastic and Levine Querido. Children's Author with HarperCollins.

Overview

Hello, authors!

I bring a 360-degree perspective to my editorial work: I’m a current literary and licensing agent, a former editor at both major and independent publishers, and a published children’s author with HarperCollins.

I know the evaluation process from both sides of the agent/editor table, and the vulnerability and craft challenges of writing for young readers. My query review experience is informed by my years as an agent reviewing thousands of queries, and experience as the editorial evaluator of all unagented submissions at Scholastic.

When working with authors, my feedback isn’t limited to craft quality; I focus on submission-readiness: clarity, voice, market positioning, and strength of your submission materials as a robust package.

Reach out for my quotes to find the best fit for you! In addition to query/submission materials and manuscripts, I’m experienced with application materials for grants, mentorships, internships, and other programs. (I serve as a juror for fellowships, awards, mentorships, and internships, and will be a guest instructor at the University of San Francisco's Writing for Young Readers MFA program.)

I couldn't be happier with the insightful, thorough feedback I received from Jas. I plan on using her notes as a blueprint to strengthen my query and first three chapters. She's brilliant.
