Ine De Baerdemaeker

Ine De Baerdemaeker – Editor

Let me nurture your manuscript, polish it until it sparkles, and transform it into a thing of beauty – a joy forever.

Overview

Having once started my career as an editor at a literary publishing house, I have now been a freelance editor and translator for eight years. My editing experience as well as my Master's degree in English Linguistics and Literature and my passion for well-written (non-)fiction help me to help my clients take their manuscript to the next level.

I love helping authors to achieve their goal of publishing a great book. If you're unsure of how to best get your message across to your readers or how to present your content in a clear, appealing way, you have come to the right place.

This is what some of the people I have worked with say about me:

"Happy to share that my book, Lead Without Burnout, won the NYC Big Book Distinguished Favorite Award in leadership. It’s a global competition with a panel of judges focused on editorial quality, audience appeal, and presentation. Special thanks to all the professionals who helped immensely on those fronts!"

- Ryan Renteria, author of Lead Without Burnout

"Ine's professionalism is only matched by her mastery of English and her ability to bring out the essence of the author's work. She's reliable, fun to work with, and a consistent provider of high-quality work."

- Haris Ioannides, owner of Armida Publications

"Ine's editing and communication skills are outstanding, and her insights keen. As a professional freelance writer, I work with multiple editors each year. Ine stands out as one of the best I have worked with."

- Jenny Benjamin, author of This Most Amazing

"Ine is a highly experienced editor whose work is characterised by absolute technical proficiency and – equally important – an intelligent and sensitive grasp of the style and substance of a given text. She can make a significant contribution to the clarity, elegance, and impact of different kinds of prose, and I believe that writers will benefit from her creative collaboration."

- Kevin Sullivan, author of Out of the West

"I've worked with Ine on several projects, and I'm happy with the consistent quality. My book wouldn't have been the same without her. She offers a personal service, from emails to Skype."

- Jon Nastor, author of Hack the Entrepreneur

Work experience

Self-employed

Jun, 2015 — Present

I founded my own editing and translation agency in 2015. I spend a lot of time working with entrepreneurs who are publishing books in their field of expertise, such as entrepreneurialism, coaching, career advice, accounting, etc. However, I also help authors of fiction with their manuscripts, which is something I absolutely love doing.

Armida Publications

Feb, 2013 — Aug, 2013 (6 months)

At this literary publishing house in Cyprus, I was responsible for selecting manuscripts for publication, discussing the manuscript with the author, proofreading and editing works of fiction, and translating a work of non-fiction into English.

Ine is an AMAZING editor! She is super easy to work with, incredibly knowledgable, and she works very fast. After she was done with the developmental and copy edit, I felt like the manuscript sounded MORE like myself. She took my original writing and enhanced it to be the best version it could possibly be. She is very knowledgable about social justice movements, veganism, feminism, etc and her ...

Ine was so passionate and encouraging of my work, as well as being a sharp editor. She seemed to truly get the layers of my story, which to me was so valuable and helped me really trust it was in the right hands. She was so easy to work with, open, and her communication was always quick. Her feedback on my novel has helped me polish it in a way I could not have done without her!
