Overview
During the 1980s, I worked at Stacey International (as a developmental editor of coffee-table books); after that, at William Heinemann (copy editor) and Reader’s Digest (abridger, Condensed Books; associate editor, Travels and Adventures series). Since then, I have been a freelance editor for many leading publishers and authors.
Concerning The Hippopotamus (Hutchinson), Stephen Fry wrote in his memoir More Fool Me: "The copy editor (Hugo de Klee) has done an excellent job ... very attentive."
I have worked with many first-time authors. If you think you might need a hand with editing your book, I would be very happy to see if I can help. Send me your typescript, or a sample of it, and I will have a look at it. Then we can discuss the best way forward and what I can do to help.
