Overview
A highly experienced publishing professional with more than 20 years of experience, I have worked in both traditional print and digital media, including blogs, social media and video scripts. I started my career writing and editing for an London-based travel publisher before moving back to the United States and into the field of craft and handmade art. For the past nine years, I worked at Taste of Home, one of the best-loved cooking and entertaining brands in the world, developing and editing a list of best-selling cookbooks.
A good editor must have two main goals: To serve the reader with text that is clear and engaging, and to always make her writers look good. To this end, I work to maintain the writer’s voice while jettisoning things that would make the reader tune out, glaze over, or laugh where the writer didn’t intend them to. Writers who work with me should expect questions that begin, "Did you mean to say...?" as I make sure my changes reflect their intentions. Writers will find me professional, respectful of them and their work, and open to questions.
