Gina Mushynsky – Editor

I am a self-employed copyeditor/line editor and proofreader who enjoys working with new as well as established Christian authors. My specialty is copyediting and proofreading Christian (Protestant/Evangelical/Pentecostal) adult fiction and inspirational/nonfiction subject matter, including devotionals, Christian living, fivefold/ascension gifts (particularly the prophetic), prayer, and inner healing and deliverance.

Please note: I do not offer developmental editing or indexing. My rates start at 3 cents per word (copyediting).

Of utmost importance to me is maintaining the author's voice while helping them deliver their message to their readers. I look beyond the simple mechanics of grammar and punctuation to examine individual words and phrases for clarity and potentially inaccurate nuances. Often, I will suggest alternate wording that may better express what the author is trying to convey. In this way, I work closely with my clients to help them craft their best possible work.

In the past eight years, I've edited and proofread dozens of titles for Pearson Education, Peterson's, Crossroad Publishing, Redemption Press, and other publishing houses as well as numerous self-publishing authors. My prior editing experience includes eight years as a newspaper editor and four years editing and proofreading e-commerce web content. I am a current member of the Editorial Freelancers Association.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University at Buffalo and settled in Syracuse, NY, after graduation. Upstate New York has always been my home: I enjoy living about two hours from the breathtaking beauty of the Adirondacks, the Finger Lakes, and Niagara Falls. When I'm not editing, I'm either exploring global food traditions in the kitchen (lately I've been dabbling in Szechuan cuisine), taking a day trip, going hiking or camping, or serving at my church.
