Despite pursuing other careers over the years, the lure of editing and writing always brings me back. Over the past 15 years, I have edited numerous books through InterVarsity Press, including "Parenting in the Pew" by Robbie Castleman and "The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Tough Questions, Direct Answers" by Dale Hanson Bourke. I have also edited 50 books for self-published authors in the past year and a half, all available (or pending publication) on Amazon, including "Evergreen Faith" by J.F. Wright, "Life at Daniel's Place" by Alice Wisler, and "Changed" by Rachel T. Allen.

My main goal while editing is to maintain the author's voice while improving the clarity and quality of the book. Before beginning an editing project, I complete a free sample edit to ensure the client and I are on the same page. All edits are done in Google Docs or Word using "suggesting" or "track changes"; this leaves the final editing decisions in the author's hands. While copyediting, I check for clarity and continuity: Are your characters described the same way throughout the book? Do the scenes and sentences make sense? Do the events leave the readers intrigued or confused? While proofreading, I check for spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Together, we will get your "book baby" ready for publishing, whether through a publishing house or self-publishing.
