Eve O'Brien – Designer

I’m a children’s book designer, illustrator and typesetter with three years’ in-house experience as a designer at HarperCollins UK. I’ve worked across illustrated and text-led titles, with a particular focus on interior layout, typesetting, series styling and image–text integration.

My design experience includes titles such as Monster Diaries by Anne Miller, Cecily Sawyer: How to Be a Spy by Iona Rangley, Scarlet: Defender of the Universe by James Davis, Lucky the Dog by Michael Morpurgo, The Last Life of Lori Mills by Max Boucherat, Tales From Shakespeare by Michael Morpurgo and A Language of Dragons by S.F. Williamson.

Alongside design and typesetting, I’m also a children’s illustrator with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art. I create character-led artwork, illustrations and cover artwork, and can incorporate illustration directly into the design of a book where needed — whether that’s an illustrated cover, spot illustrations or a fully illustrated interior. I can take projects from initial concept through to final artwork and prepare print-ready files for production.
