Ella Chappell

Ella Chappell – Editor

Editor specialising in science and speculative fiction. Former editor at Titan Books, where I edited SFF and tie-in fiction for TV and film.

Overview

I worked as an editor in the fiction department of Titan Books for four years, acquiring and editing science fiction, fantasy, horror and TV/film/gaming tie-in fiction. I worked with New York Times bestselling authors as well as emerging debut authors. Now I work at Unbound, where I edit and proofread fiction and non-fiction.

I have a passion for science and speculative fiction and am always excited to work on manuscripts from new writers in the genre. I offer development edits, providing advice on structure, character and plot, copy-edits to address style, tone and consistency, and proofreads to ensure an exceptional polish of the final manuscript. I’m most often described as kind, thoughtful and creative; I like to work collaboratively, offering sensitive feedback to help hone your unique voice and to tell the story only you can tell. Arthur C Clarke-award-winnng author Pat Cadigan described me as “the kind of editor every author wants to work with”.

"Ella has an eye for the big picture as well as the fine detail. She really got under the skin of my novel and I've found her input to be friendly whilst also pushing me to do better. Would definitely recommend." Daniel Godfrey, author of New Pompeii
