Daniel Maurer

Daniel Maurer – Editor

Award-winning editor and author with 25+ years of experience editing novels, non-fiction books, and journalism.

Overview

I'm an award-winning editor with 25+ years of experience editing novels, non-fiction books, and journalism for New York magazine, New York Times, and others. I'm a two-time James Beard award winner and a National Magazine Award nominee specializing in literary fiction, arts, culture, food, humor, travel, and more.

As both an editor who has worked with hundreds of writers and a writer who has collaborated with many editors, I've been on both sides of the desk. I appreciate the value of an edit that is thorough and exacting but also respectful of an author's voice and vision. I've edited everyone from bestselling authors to student writers for whom English is a second language. You can count on me to give your work the line-by-line attention it deserves as well as "big picture" advice about character development, structure, pacing, tone, and other critical elements of storytelling.
