I had just finished making the bed in the guest room when the doorbell rang. To my surprise it was a girl. My street is quiet and hard to navigate, I only find my mailman and the occasional repair person on my doorstep. People don’t usually just stumble down here unless they have a reason. She was young, maybe early 20’s with long brown hair and matching colored eyes. She was soaking wet head to toe, but it wasn’t raining outside, the sun shined down and illuminated her face. She stared back at me for a bit and then spoke. “Hell...

On Monday I went to the Pharmacy. Tuesday I went to the post office. Wednesday the pharmacy, maybe the post office as well. Thursday... All the days start and end the same. Wake up at 9, bathroom, tea, desk. Work, work, work, maybe I go outside, come home, bathroom, dinner, couch, watch, watch, watch then bed. I've made it my goal to watch every single movie ever, (or as close to that as I can get), and rank them. After I finish my work and errands the house is hollow and empty and it's just me, the buzzing and yelling of my neighbors in the...

June 12th 2020 We arrived at the villa a few hours ago, the views are breathtaking as per usual. The water is clear as glass, the air so crisp and clean. We arrived right at sunset, just in time for a late dinner. We had butter chicken and rice, it was delivered to our house since we arrived too late to dine in the main hall. Tonight we’ll probably watch a movie in our room and turn in early. Traveling here was exhausting, two planes and a boat. No one talks about the taxing parts of your parents owning an island. I’m excited for th...

Today is Thursday March 27th 2019 and today by the end of the day, I will be arrested and charged with murder. I didn’t do it. And I know that’s what everyone says and that you’re not going to believe me but I swear just hear me out. A week ago today, the 20th, I woke up in a cold sweat at 3am. I have frequent night terrors so this isn’t anything new. After they happen I usually just step out onto my balcony to get some air and go back to bed, but that night I decided to take a walk. I pulled a hoodie over my head, shoved on a...

I don’t love him. Even though he’s everything a girl could ask for, smart, caring, funny, kind, I still don’t love him. I met him last year around this time. I was at the supermarket and we were both browsing through the bread aisle. He “accidentally” bumped into me and said hello, I reluctantly said hi back. He smiled and asked what my favorite type of bread was. I didn’t know people had favorite types of bread. I scrunched up my face in confusion and before I could answer him he apologized and I reassured him that it was fine. He asked for...

It’s 5:32 am. I know because the aspiring stockbroker who lives on the other side of my wall’s alarm goes off at the same time every day, and I can hear it through the cardboard in my NYC apartment. I usually tell the time throughout the day by the sounds of my neighbors. Around 6:45 I hear Ms. Perilous door slam as she leaves for work. At about 8:00 the man two doors down make a smoothie. And around noon Mr. and Ms. Levi across the hall gets into their first argument of the day. Most people would find it annoying, but I find it helpful as n...
