I was seeded” in Liverpool, “budded” in West Cumbria and “blossomed” in Newcastle upon Tyne.
After careers in secretarial, nursing and teaching FE students, I've come out the other end as an ‘emerging writer’. How I can possibly be just ‘emerging’ at such a ripe old age is anyone’s guess! Yet, here I am.
I wrote avidly from 2010 to 2012 - but gave it up completely from then to 2024, due to family commitments. During those early years, I had some small successes, winning an online competition, a 'Debut'small press story and a double-page-spread in a magazine, 'This England'. Since I 'started up' putting pen to paper again, I'm part of a local writing group who have given me self-belief as a writer. I set about getting a short story collection published -and finally achieved it with UK publishing, situated in Whitley Bay (just down the road),Its title is 'Strange Tales are These' by (pen name) Sheila LaNewton -therein lies a story! Just recently, I discovered I'm a finalist in the WOW women on writing competition. WOW! 'Reedsy' has been mentioned many times by WOW. And I wanted to be part of it. So I joined up - Couldn't be happier! There is so much here to get involved in - even weekly prompts. I'm so up for a relationship with Reedsy.
I'm part of a Blogger Circle, northernwordsmiths.com, posting flashes and short fiction here and there.
I'm yet to have a website but I'm looking!
So here goes ...
