Nyssa Gatcombe is a canine behavior consultant and writer based in North Yarmouth, Maine. With a background in research science and a career spent studying the complexities of animal psychology, Nyssa brings a unique, grounded lens to her character-driven speculative fiction. She has spent over a decade developing the voices in her stories, exploring how human connections endure when the world stops working. A multigenerational Mainer, Nyssa shares her home with a special-needs Border Collie, two cats, four sheep, and a house goat named Vic—the official mascot of the Portland Press Herald. She writes in memory of her heart dog, Wish, who was her constant companion for fifteen years and through every draft of her journey.
