As curling ribbons of incense draped over the slowly burning stick, Eloise watched a foggy reflection of herself hang a black-lace veil over her eyes. Staring blankly into the dim-lit mirror, she adjusted the lace so it fell gently, grazing her forehead and tenting from her eyebrows to the bridge of her nose.
