They had been poring over anatomy diagrams on the sixth floor of the library for hours, testing each other on the name of each bone, each muscle, each nerve. They were an island of dim lamplight amongst the sea of stacks, shelves of books stretching out into the gloom. A flask of tea and a plate of biscuits adorned the table, surrounded by textbooks and notebooks.
