Hugh stood at the carriage door, gazing out of the window, blurred faces coming into greater focus as the train eased into the station. As far as she knew, there was no name for her condition. In the past, Elaine had described her symptoms to several doctors. A doctor might ask, ‘... have you had any recent health concerns?’ and she would answer, ‘Yes. Whenever I speak to someone on the phone, I visualise them in incredible detail’.
