A creaking of the hull stirred me from my deep slumber. I began to panic, trying to make out the structure of the room I was in: a shadowy-dark box with a heap of potato sacks in the corner, and a small trapdoor in the floor of the deck above. Each slight turn of the ship allowed the build up of water on the floor to shift, further soaking what was left of my garments.
