Winter comes quickly in your eighties. The smell of damp flowers makes Ronnie sneeze, his chesty cough acting up. Most of the flowers have been left to rot, that doesn't help. A building patter of rainfall makes Ronnie feel every one of his eighty-two years, knees aching like rusty hinges in need of oil.
