Grayness. My entire vision is immersed in a pulsing gray vortex. A thunderous cacophony resounds in my head as I flail around. Gradually my sight focuses, and a landscape sprawls out around me. The Baroque Enigma opened ninety-nine years and three hundred sixty four days ago, but it appears even older. The ridiculously ornate hotel presents a living anachronism among the taller, sleeker rectangles lining either side of the highway.
