Startled, the noise of footsteps caused Ally to awaken out of a deep slumber. This was the second night in a row that she had heard a strange noise coming from below. Dave stood in line of the convenience store holding his acrylic paint bottles, day-dreaming about his next landscape painting. As he approached the front of the line, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror placed directly behind the clerk.
