No matter how honest we are, there is always a time when a big lie is called for. There’s the time I walked out the front door, when I was 5 or 6 and terrified to walk to school by myself. I stepped out of sight of the door then walked back along the edge of the apartment building until I reached the evergreen shrubs. I ducked behind them and forced myself to throw up.
