Weekly Contest #376
**As this is a story about a corpse, please be aware that there are descriptions of gore and bugs. Thank you!** Contrary to popular belief the reason the dead envy the living is not simply because they are alive. It is because they continue to grow. There is nothing vain about it. It is not because of their elastic skin that snaps back into place when stretched. Mine, which is grey from the last decade of being dead, rips and snaps. There’s a hole in my cheek from the last time I decided to go for a stroll around the graveyard. A wayward wi...
Shortlisted for Weekly Contest #369 ⭐️
There is a rock in my living room. It's more of a boulder, really. It's large and cumbersome, rough in some spots and smooth in others. It’s a steel grey color, with flecks of black like freckles on summer worn skin. The rock is cold most of the time, but it warms when I rest my hand on it or lean against its side. Weekly Contest #342

For someone who reads so much, it’s funny how you don’t know basic grammar, like, at all.” I jam my finger in the backspace key hard enough...
Weekly Contest #329
I am a cursed person. Cursed to live. To see the hours pass, the days, the weeks. I have watched as the years slog by with all the flare and vitality that I no longer have. The same wonder that you once held in your strong grasp. A strength that cursed us both but went further with you. It killed you. It killed every part of you first before finally stopping your heart. I watched it happen. Frozen in place with so many voices telling me what to do, I couldn’t help you. You reached for me. Begged me. Cried for me. Your voice grew hoarse until...
