Dr. Josh Valk is the author of psychological suspense, literary fiction, and horror, drawn to the unsettling moments hidden beneath ordinary life. His stories explore the quiet fears, moral dilemmas, and impossible mysteries that emerge when everyday people encounter something they cannot explain, or cannot ignore.
Before turning his attention to fiction, Josh spent his professional career in sales management and higher education administration, leading teams, mentoring students, and helping others achieve their goals.
Although he enjoyed those careers, writing had always been his passion. After years of reading authors such as Stephen King, Richard Chizmar, and Cormac McCarthy, he finally committed to telling the stories that had been waiting in the back of his mind for years.
Outside of writing, Josh serves his Wyoming community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, experiences that continue to influence the realism, resilience, and humanity found in his fiction. He is also a published researcher, editor, and publishing consultant who enjoys helping other authors bring their own stories to life. In addition, he is about to start a career in real estate.
His debut collection, Those Who Notice, introduces readers to ordinary people confronted with extraordinary circumstances, where the smallest crack in reality can change a life forever. He is also the author of the forthcoming novels Friday Night at the Blarney, Storage Unit 114, and The Last Correction.
When he is not writing, Josh can usually be found reading, building furniture in his workshop, playing video games, or obsessively watching sports.
