I love stories that make you think. The kind with larger than life characters that also feel oh-so-real. My favorite genre may be speculative fiction, although I also love a bit of wholesome romance (which is hard to find), fantasy and historical fiction. I live in the deep south USA with my dog, Max, and elderly mother, Sarah.
My favorite authors are Jane Austen and C.S. Lewis, and I am extremely fond of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein."

My current project, "The Dire Chronicles," is in its first draft. A speculative, southern gothic fiction set in Reconstruction Era Alabama, it follows the aristocratic widow Dire Welmsley as she sets up a new life alongside her best friend, a former slave named Willie. While she attempts infiltrating elite society and Willie seeks her lost brother, the ever present threat of Dire's past and a malevolent figure Willie calls "The Dark One" looms large on the horizon.
