I Wasn't Truly Lost Until...

CONTENT WARNING: This story touches on some mental health (anxiety) issues including the "mental doom-spiral" and suicidal tendency. There's nothing overly graphic in here, but if you are easily triggered please consider yourself warned. The main theme involves a character who pushes themself too hard to reach a goal, and a major setback affects them more than it should, resulting in a tragedy. Author bio

Trained as a scientist and a musician, worked 40 different jobs in half a career, in 30 different industries. Got sick with an autoimmune disease, can't work anymore and had to "retire early" on disability benefits. Now I have too much free time, and nothing to do since I live in a very remote part of northern Maine and I can't even go hiking anymore.

So I'm on Reedsy to keep my mind active, mostly. Partly just to kill time.
Sometimes I write short stories using their prompts. Sometimes I even publish the results on here, but not always. I'm also working on two sets of novels that will each probably end up as a trilogy:
1. Sci-fi space-time epic that spans the whole of human history, explores themes of humanity, sentience, and what it means to be a human being.
2. Fantasy adventure based on JRR Tolkein's "Lord of the Rings" books... but this tale happens tangential to those events, primarily in the East, beyond the Sea of Rhun.

I've lived all over the USA, spent 40 years bouncing like a gypsy. Settled in northern Maine now and trying to put down roots and build a life for myself here.
