I like minimalism in art and writing (Bauhaus and Tobias Wolff, for example). My goal, always, is to write a story that is meaningful and simple. I find that playing with meaning while pushing simplicity often leads to unexpected and entertaining oddities of the sort I love to read.
My favourite short stories are The Bath by Raymond Carver and The Lonesome Bodybuilder by Yukiko Motoya. Lately I've been reading a lot of Bukowski and Mark Fisher--too much Bukowski and Fisher, really.
I wish everyone who reads this a delightful day.
