“Mom?” I was pushed out of my thoughts by Jack’s small voice. He crawled up onto the peeling couch and pushed the picture book into my lap. His eyes looked at me with all the intensity a bored three year old could muster. “You want me to read it to you?” I said. He nodded, “Make sure you say all the sounds,” He directed.
