A hand falls to the floor, just visible through the crack of the cupboard door. The tile is smeared with red. A small boy shrinks into himself, breathing heavily but quietly. He presses his face into his knees, which are pulled up to his chest so that he can squeeze into the cabinet. In the darkness, he hears footsteps, then the slam of a door.
