Bonnie Craig

Bonnie Craig – Editor

Thoughtful, efficient and supportive non-fiction editor with 19 years' experience in wellness, self-help, yoga, health, and parenting.

Overview

I've worked in-house and as a freelancer for publishers and charities since 2005, generally working in the areas of wellbeing, self-help, psychology, mental health, yoga, alternative therapies, parenting, social care, and the arts.

I'd love to work with you to ensure your book is the best it can be, whether you need developmental and structural editing when you first finish your manuscript, line or copy editing to tighten up your text for your intended audience or a final proofread of your manuscript.

I know that sharing your book with someone else for the first time can be scary, and I'm here to make that process smooth and supportive.

It's important to me that I understand your project before we get started. I'll ask you questions to make sure I am clear on who it's for and what it needs to do. I might ask to see some of your previous writing projects to get a sense of your personal style and approach. We'll agree timescales and expectations together and make sure that we're both happy with the process.

Along with your edited manuscript, I'll provide thorough notes, a list of any outstanding queries and a style guide/spellings list (if you don't already have one) for you to take forward to the next stage of production.

As well as a love of words, I have an MA in design and and have completed the FC1 British Wheel of Yoga qualification. I live in north-west England, where I enjoy exploring the mountains, swimming in the lakes and eating delicious food.

I could not be more pleased. Bonnie’s edits were precise and consistent with the APA format I requested. She demonstrated both a knowledge of prose and understanding of the concepts. She returned my manuscript ahead of my tight schedule. One thing I particularly appreciated is that each edit had the exact proper spacing, so that when I deleted something it never left a double space. That made...

I can't praise Bonnie highly enough. Right from the start she was speedy to reply, asked all the right questions and made sure we were a good match to work together. My book (non-fiction, health based) has been vastly improved in its readability and accessibility by her editing. She has taken my words and given them structure and a flow I would never have achieved on my own. It has been worth...

I had the pleasure of working with Bonnie on my book, and what stood out to me right away was her thoughtful approach. Unlike many editors, Bonnie didn’t rush to send me an offer; instead, she took the time to review my work and truly understand what I was looking for in an editor. From the start, she connected with my writing, which made me feel validated and reassured that I had found someone...

Bonnie was fantastic to work with. She was clear in her communication, very responsive to questions, and had a well structured approach which I greatly appreciate. The quality of the copy editing was great - clear, organised and thorough feedback, it was exactly what I was looking for! She made the copy edit part of the process so easy and low-stress, I cannot recommend Bonnie enough!
