I have been a professional grant writer in higher education for 25 years. My proposals, mainly to foundations, focus on everything from curricular innovation to faculty development to capital projects to student success and have garnered tens of millions of dollars of grants over the years. I have also written and edited books and articles, mainly about the native people of North America as well as American photographers. I have either written or edited all of the books in my portfolio.My editing style is highly collaborative. The goal is to work with an author to tell her/his story in the most compelling way possible, in his/her voice, free from cliche and jargon, and on target with what is required. At the end of an edit, a client should expect both specific edits and suggestions for further improvement/development. I think clients would say that they find me warm, engaging, responsive, and helpful.
