Overview
With over 25 years experience in book publishing, I basically wear three hats as a developmental editor, literary agent, and bestselling Amazon author. This varied experience allows me to give you in-depth feedback on how to improve your book and prepare for pitching and publication. I offer constructive, compassionate editorial suggestions without sacrificing the original vision for your story. I am available throughout the editorial process by email and offer a comprehensive written evaluation with all edits.
Consulting is available to go over publishing options. I work with both bestselling and emerging new authors to help polish their work through a detailed developmental edit for publication. Many of my clients have gone on to obtain agents and book deals.
Whether you are going traditional or self-publishing, I can help you bring the best out in your work to compete in today's marketplace. With an extensive developmental edit, I include edits and comments in track changes within the manuscript and a full written report.
I have had the privilege to work with many bestselling and award winning authors in genres of thriller/suspense, women's fiction, historical fiction, romance, Sci-fi/Fantasy adult and YA, and literary fiction. In nonfiction I work with memoir, self-help/personal growth, and prescriptive. Recent authors include: Catherine Ryan Hyde, Dr. Bernie Siegel, Marko Kloos, Nancy Herkness, DM Pulley, Marc Allen Edelheit, Evan Currie, Craig Schaefer, Ashley Farley, Boo Walker, Suzanne Kelman. I enjoy working with enthusiastic new and published authors.
I've worked as an instructor for MFA creative writing programs, a conference teacher, and a webinar presenter for Writers’ Digest. As a literary agent, books I have worked with, both well-crafted fiction and high profile adult nonfiction have gone on to publication, appeared on the Oprah Show, Ellen DeGeneres Show, Good Morning America, and in the NY Times. I work with Penguin Random House authors, St. Martins, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Sourcebooks, Hay House, Lake Union Publishing, 47 North, Montlake, Thomas & Mercer, New World Library.
I look forward to working with you and your book and making it the best it can be.

"Thanks to my developmental editor, Andrea H., who suggested ALL THE CHANGES. She made me rewrite the stuff that sucked until it didn’t, and it’s a much better novel for that."
~Marko Kloos bestselling author the Frontline Series.
"The insights and feedback that Andrea gave me not only helped improve my book, but also made me a better writer. She and her staff are extremely friendly and professional.
