I am a cookbook copyeditor and proofreader with over 25 years of experience. I take recipe editing very seriously, and began my career in cookbooks at Macmillan Publishing. If I am cooking and see that a recipe's ingredients are out of order, I am leery that the dish will actually turn out! From years of working on both cookbooks and online food articles, I am quick to catch inconsistencies and format issues, and am adept at learning the publishing house's style, assuring each recipe follows its guidelines.
I can also take a rough recipe and turn it into one that is easy to understand and follow, as I did with "A Healthier Home Cook" by Shawna Holman, while making it seem as if the author wrote it herself. The fact that I love to cook for family and friends, preparing healthy and delicious meals several nights a week, makes me even more aware of the clarity and usefulness of a recipe.
My exceptional eye for consistency and details also makes me a proficient proofreader. I have worked on several well-known cookbooks such as Joy Bauer's "Superfood!" and "The Power of Sprinkles" by Amira Kassem. As a diligent worker, I never miss a deadline—often turning in projects early—and always submit the highest quality work possible.
