Overview
I’ve worked in non-fiction publishing since the 1990s, so I’ve now worked on more than 400 titles! Genres include art, design, fashion, natural history, well-being, cooking and crafts, but I’m particularly interested in memoirs and non-fiction with a personal slant.
The most demanding and rewarding project of recent years was a set of four books on Chinese culture – a unique blend of history, art and memoir. Beginning with a literal translation from Chinese, I worked with the author for a year to create an accurate English text that retained the spirit of the original.
For me, building a relationship with an author is always the best part of a job – getting to know them and their subject, and contributing towards a result they can be proud of. I’m half Chinese and a language student (Mandarin), so I’m also particularly attuned to the needs of non-native writers.
I usually begin with a free sample edit – it’s the best way for me to gauge the workload, and the best way for you to see if we’d be a good fit! So whether your text calls for a light polish, a comprehensive rewrite or something in between, get in touch.
