Overview
I provide a friendly and efficient copyediting and proofreading service for individuals and organisations writing for business, academia and public policy.
I bring editing experience and subject knowledge to ensure your writing is clear and accurate. I have edited and proofread a variety of formats and styles, including academic and reference texts, government policy documents, online teaching materials, NGO briefings and business reports.
In editing academic and reference material, my main subject focus is on law and social sciences, drawing on the knowledge gained from my academic and professional background in these areas.
I am familiar with all the main style guides and referencing systems, as well as being able to follow a client's house style. I will make sure your text is internally consistent and (if needed) aligns with your other texts or organisational requirements.
I am conscientious in my approach and sensitive to clients’ requirements. I frequently support writers with dyslexia or with English as an additional language; in this, I am careful to retain author voice while smoothing out any grammar, spelling and syntax issues. I also work on highly confidential items, following strict security protocols and understanding the need to act with complete discretion.
I became an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) – its highest level – in 2020. This recognises my high level of training and experience, not to mention happy clients. I have undertaken formal training in proofreading, copyediting, web editing, and the use of grammar, and I am committed to ongoing professional development, keeping abreast of developments in both the editing and legal worlds.
My high standards and interest in justice issues go beyond the quality and subject area of my work. I am committed to running my business in a socially responsible way – such as paying fair tax, treating customers and suppliers well, and sourcing ethically – and received Good Business Charter accreditation in 2021.
