Alicia Balderrama

Alicia Balderrama – Editor

I am a copy editor and proofreader who works with all types of fiction, specializing in young adult and middle grade fiction.

My name is Alicia, and I am a seasoned editor specializing in copy edits and proofreading. I am experienced with a variety of genres, but my true love is fiction. More recently I have focused on young adult and middle grade fiction, but I will happily take on any project that speaks to me.

My education includes a bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis in journalism, as well as my daily episode of Jeopardy!

I have spent the last eight years editing for traditional publishers (including Penguin Random House, Scholastic, and Candlewick Press), indie publishers, and many self-publishing authors. At the end of the day, my goal is to help every author produce the best manuscript possible, no matter which publishing route they take.

I look forward to turning your manuscript into a masterpiece. I can’t wait to work with you!

*Please note that I do not provide developmental editing or indexing services at this time.

Client Testimonials:

While being new to the path of authorship and the field of editing, I must say Alicia has provided me with a great experience. This editor I felt did a great job in picking up my writing style and combing insightfully through my manuscript. This has been a great experience, thank you.

Thank you so much for your corrections, recommendations, and comments. Your comments have been very encouraging, and I am now feeling a little more confident about the entire manuscript than I was before. I really appreciate all the suggestions/amendments you have made—it definitely looks a lot better now! Thank you so much once again! You have been extremely helpful and kind.

I always am very satisfied with your work! Unlike other editors, you are always careful not to change my original meanings. I also like the way you make changes for clarity. I really appreciate it. Thank you.
