Fantasy Friendship Science Fiction

He was stuck. Not figuratively or metaphorically he was quite literally stuck under the weight of this pink alien he had been handcuffed to. He seemed to shop at bad 90s stores as his outfit looked like something MC Hammer might wear. How Lock knew who those people were was from the data logs that his homeworld kept on matters concerning Earth and its people. He couldn’t think of that right now all he could think of was how he was going to shed the dead weight and get back to his ship and off this desert planet that resembled the Arizona Desert. Except this desert came with sand dragons, big often times carnivorous and skull like that prowled this planet like scavengers looking for carcasses to feast on. They had to get free before they encountered any of those. The crime they had committed that warranted they be left in the middle of the planet was theft. Lock had stolen something from the Galactic Police to clear his name on the planet Xandar. What had he stolen? Information that could expose the crimes committed by the leaders of his planet who were militant and had just overthrown the previous regime that ruled under false pretenses. But this alien who dressed in bad fashion he was now attached to was proving to be dead weight to him. He smacked his cheek to wake him up. “Hey get up princess we need to get moving or we’ll be sitting ducks here for the scavengers.” The human like alien stirred and gave an almost lax yawn and stretched out almost as if he had just gotten out or rolled out of bed. “Is this where they dropped us off? Looks like a dead space near the end of the cosmos. Who are you big guy?” Lock didn’t like him already this pink skinned alien with bad fashion gave off the impression of a sleazy phone salesman that could rip you off and take most of your check if you let him. Lock was huge and green and could easily get him in a head lock and suffocate him if he wished. But if he did that he would be pulling real ‘dead weight’ and attract the wild life and die probably. So instead he answered, “The name is Lock. And you?” The pink alien gave an almost sarcastic looking smile and replied, “Trigger. My parents thought it would catch on with the ladies when I got older.” Lock looked sideways to scan their area and what they could possibly do to get off the planet alive. “See that spot on the horizon?” Trigger looked to where Lock was pointing. “That there looks like a town we can get there if we hurry. I don’t want to stick around to find out what lurks at night. You don’t want to attract a scavenger they will kill you on site. Also don’t make a lot of noise they eat the loud ones if you catch my drift.”Trigger just nodded in understanding and said, “Righto boss man so how are we going to get to that small town on the horizon there since we’re hand cuffed together? It’ll take a blow torch to get us free.” Lock sighed and raised his hand attached to Trigger’s, “Oh you noticed that huh? Well we’re going to have to make friends real fast if we want to survive and get to that town. We’ll coordinate how we move and get to that dot. It can’t be but 7 miles away from our current location.” Trigger just nodded in response and looked up then replied, “Before that scavenger looming over us does us in?” He didn’t even notice how fast it had snuck up on them. Lock pushed Trigger out of the way fast before it’s beak full of razor sharp teeth came crashing down in the sand.

Lock had shoved them both out of the way fast guess Trigger wasn’t such a buffoon after all despite how bad he dressed. Lock lifted his head up and yelled,”It’s a scavanger! Run.” And both men took off sprinting to get away from the huge creature with bat like wings and a bird like outer skull. It was all they could do under such dire circumstances. Run and run because their lives depended on it all 7 miles to the small little town where they could possibly get free and find a ship off the planet.

3 hours later they had given the huge aviary beast the slip hiding in between the desert canyon rocks that formed naturally. They weren’t close to the town yet but it wasn’t too far away. Night time came they would have to try tomorrow. They made camp in between their hiding place and finally Lock asked Trigger what he did to get handcuffed to him and left for dead on this planet anyways. Trigger gave a slight smirk and puffed up his chest real proud and said, “ Joy riding. I stole a Galactic Police cruiser and crashed it into a dress store on planet Kalfkar.” Lock looked at him as if he had said an unfunny joke. “So you’re a petty crook I figured from how you dress.” Trigger gave a scoff and replied, “ I dress like a pimp it’s the latest style on Earth you know and those humans are dripping in style these days.” Lock gave another scoff and replied,” I come from a plenet of elite group of warriors and leaders and you, all you did was steal a car and end up on this backwards planet with me attatched to you we are not the same.” Trigger looked a little ashamed and then said, “Well whatever you did you got to admit getting banned here and then left for dead isn’t what you counted on either right?” Lock looked a bit perplexed at this statement and then replied, “No I didn’t I guess in that sense we’re in the same mess as the other.” Trigger gave a smile then replied,”Exactly friend you and me despite what we both did we’re in the same mess now and if you didn’t act back there we would be food for the scavengers now.” Lock looked out at the town, It was barley visible but there for sure not a mirage. But that thing was still out there. “We’ll have to wait till morning and go early and by then it’ll be gone hopefully looking for food elsewhere and we’ll make a break for the town.” Trigger gave a nod of compliance to Lock, “Yeah because we’re a team right mate?” Lock looked at him even more awkwardly but then nodded,”Yeah I guess we’re a team from here on out.” Morning came and the two aliens made a mad run for it the town. They were 3 miles out and so far the scavanger that tailed them was nowhere to be seen. They were almost to the town and then they were suddenly stopped by the alien sheriff that guarded the town. He raised his gun at them and said,”You boys left out there for dead can’t just let you into the town there’s good folk that need defending and no one knows for sure where you boys are from now.” Trigger geared up his smooth silver tongue to speak but Lock sensing he was going to say something stupid covered his mouth and spoke for both of them, “We crashed here and lost our ship and we’re just looking for a way off the planet.” The sheriff eyed them suspiciously up and down, “What’s with the handcuff son?” Trigger sweated trying to think of an explanation he couldn’t let him know they were both enemies of the Galactic Police. “We were drunk! Yeah partying too hard and we both just handcuffed ourselves together for a joke!” Blurted Trigger. Lock noddd yes in response. To their relief the cop just gave a sigh. “You boys should know better than to crash land out there partying it’s dangerous out there damn buzzard birds will eat ya right up without a second thought. We have a garage in the back we can get you two free and then see about getting you off the planet and onto a rental ship.” Lock and Trigger breathed a sigh of relief and then both said,”Thank you officer.” The two aliens were freed by the afternoon and as for their transportation it was of course a rental ship. After they were both freed Lock and Trigger looked at each other knowing they would have to go their seperate ways. Or would they? Trigger just said to Lock, “We make a good team.” “Yeah.” Responded Lock, “ A good team.” Trigger just looked up and said, “ Funny thing too seeing as I have nothing to go back to on Xandar why don’t I just cruise with you and help you out? Like a friend that’s got your back.” Lock gave an almost perplexed look then gave a sigh, “Is that what happened back there we made friends?” Trigger looked a bit worried as if he was going to get rejected but then his confidence came back and he said, “Sure you saved my life from the scavanger I owe you a debt. Plus whatever it is you’re doing maybe going to your home planet you’re going to need some help right?” Lock looked out into the horizon then gave it some thought. He had gone it alone for so long and look where it got him. Surely this pink alien who dressed badly could be useful in a tight situation. Both aliens gave a manly handshake and said, “Shake on it partner!” And with that the two took ff into the rental space craft and out into the cosmos into the unknown most likely to free Lock’s Planet.
