Adventure Fantasy Fiction

Mark: Alright! It’s time to set up a stall.

Ana: Is this really it for your stall? Just a blanket and these. . . random knick knacks?

Mark: These are all the things that I had in my room before setting out.

Ana: For real? You’re telling me you don’t have anything of value in that potato sack?

Mark: You were the one suggesting we should sell things. I was fine just sleeping in the forest.

Ana: You and my master are two peas in a pod. The pod of having back problems. Did he at least leave anything of his in there?

Mark: Yeah but those stuff are his. It wouldn’t be right to sell his things.

Ana: If he wanted to keep them then he wouldn’t have left them in there! Iron Golem, take out the items left by my master. At least those could have some value.

Dasa: I am not a Iron Golem, I am an android developed by D–

Ana: Maybe we should sell the Golem instead.

Mark: She’s a friend, not a Golem.

Ana: Yeah, well my friends aren’t made of metal.

Mark: Do you even have any friends? I thought you were traveling with the old man since you were a kid.

Ana: O-of course I have friends! They’re just. . . far away. I made a whole bunch of friends traveling with my master.

Mark: Really? When I spoke to him he told me that you had difficulties making friends.

Ana: What! Did he mention anything else? Ugh, Master never was one to keep his mouth shut.

Dasa: I’ve found the items previously owned by your master that you asked for. I’ll take them out if Mark permits it.

Mark: No, just leave them there.

Ana: Is she just gonna be in the bag the whole day?

Mark: She said something about running out of charge and going on low power mode.

Ana: Since you aren’t her creator, you can’t charge her with your Mana. Have you tried feeding her mana crystals?

Mark: mmm… I don’t have any clue what that even is.

Ana: Of course, why did I even ask. We’ll just sell what we have and buy some crystals for the Golem. But who would even want these things here.

Mark: I’ll have you know that these “things” are great fun to have. This clay toy is especially great fun. It has wheels to move and it’s like a monster. A wolf with fins for ears making it the king of beast both on land and in water.

Ana: How does it give it mobility in water? It already has legs for swimming.

Dasa: The monster losing its ears and gaining fins removes its hearing with no real benefits. It loses its capability to hear on land.

Mark: It has a fish’s ear. Look at these three lines on the neck. Those are its ears.

Dasa: Fishes have internal ears. Those are gills which expels water and Carbon Dioxide

Ana: I can’t believe my master abandoned me and left an idiot to adventure with.

Soldier: Hey, are you merchants?

Mark: Why yes sir! Are you here to take a look at my finest wares?

Soldier: I never seen your face here before or heard of any new merchants arriving.

Ana: Sorry officer, we’re travelers. We’re just selling some items to earn some money to afford an inn.

Soldier: Do you have your merchant guild papers for selling goods while traveling?

Mark: Merchant guild papers?

Ana: No worries officer, I have my papers right he– huh! It’s gone. Master, why did you forsake me.

Dasa: It seems that we don’t have the required paperwork.

Soldier: I’ll have to shut down your operation. You can try registering at the merchant guild tomorrow. Luckily we’re a sizable village so we have a merchant guild building here.

Mark: Seems like we’ll be sleeping in the woods.

Soldier: Hold on. . . What’s that?

Mark: This? It’s a clay figure created in my home village.

Soldier: What is it supposed to be?

Mark: It’s a—

Ana: What do you think it’s supposed to be? It seems like a creature whose body was made to be on land yet born with fins for ears and gills on its neck. An imperfect creature that although seems mighty, struggles to survive.

Soldier: Well, that certainly is quite unique. Never seen something like it before. I’ll do you all a favor and purchase it. How much would it be?

Mark: It’s–

Ana: 120 gold pieces!

Soldier: Sheesh that’s a lot but if it’s for a work of art like this then it’s worth it.

Ana: Thank you for your purchase sir. Have a wonderful day.

Mark: Isn’t 120 a lot? My father traded it for a dozen corn.

Ana: I knew you were gonna sell it for nothing. At least with this we have enough for a membership AND for a place to stay.

Mark: You really hate the idea of sleeping in the forest.

Ana: We have nothing to even sleep outside with!

Mark: I’ve been sleeping in the woods for fun my whole life. I haven’t had a single problem.

Ana: Why am I stuck with such an animal? Even though I traveled with my Master for years, I still have no idea what goes through his head. He just had to abandon me and send you my way.

Mark: He just recognizes how fun a company I am. We’ll find the old man again and then you can ask him why he did it.

Ana: What makes you say that?

Mark: Because my adventure has just begun. Away from that small village of mine, I’m rearing to go far and wide. We’ll definitely meet up with him again and when we do, I’ll be able to share stories of my own adventure back to him.

Ana: Adventuring for the sake of adventuring. No purpose or goal in sight. Sigh, no wonder master took a liking to you.

Mark: Having a goal is boring. Once you achieve it then that means there’s nothing more to do.

Ana: I’ll have you know that it’s not so bad to have goals. They don’t have to be a single long term idea. It can be the simple things that you move to do. Today’s goal is to go to the Inn, tomorrow is to obtain a merchant guild membership.

Mark: Fine, then I’ll just sleep outside.

Ana: That wasn’t an invitation to challenge it! You truly are just an idiot!

Dasa: You seemed to have angered her immensely.
