Since its inception, NDS has recognized the importance of laying a foundation for the future in the form of students. This scholarship is awarded to a freshman majoring in Dairy/Animal Science with a Communications emphasis or Agricultural Journalism with a Dairy/Animal Science emphasis. Application includes personal and analytical essays on the dairy industry.

The new Richard P. Johns award is available to all Quill and Scroll seniors. Scholarships can be used for tuition, room and board at any college or university that offers a major in journalism or related areas of communications. Scholarships range from $500 to $1,500.
