Ashley Reed – Editor

I am an editor with over ten years experience writing and editing for prose fiction, short film and video games. I have worked with teams of writers to draft and hone everything from intensely personal character stories, to snappy in-game dialogue, to explorations of new worlds and the unique people that populate them. I have an eye for compelling story structure that keeps tension high and emotional sequences meaningful. My specialty is believable dialogue that makes characters stand out as unique individuals your reader, viewer, or player will love.

I like to follow a bottom-up editing approach: foundational story structure notes are my highest priority, followed by additional plot and character considerations, and ending with copy-editing and polish. I am happy to address any or all of these levels depending on the needs of the project and the desires of the writer. I am particularly versed in speculative fiction, but also have experience with horror and action in a variety of different mediums.
