Overview
Hi, I’m Rebecca, a graphic designer and illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. I'm inspired by botanical themes combined with sometimes dark sci-fi moods, and enjoy collaborating with clients who love the 'feeling' of my works.
I developed my drawing skills in the '90s working in 2D animation on short films, ads and TV shows. I also taught character animation in Singapore, production edited a birdwatching magazine, and worked as a freelance copywriter. In 2022, I published my debut undersea sci-fi graphic novel called Infernal Regions, which was shortlisted in the 2023 Comic Arts Awards of Australia.
I love black and white art and I bring visual narratives to life for magazines and book publishers of all kinds. As an illustrator, I love capturing ideas that are hard to describe in words: I use black ink and cardboard, chicken skewers, nibs on backwards and sometimes my fingers to draw to convey feeling, movement and emotion. I'll often collage in textural backgrounds to create a visceral, hand-made vibe.
If you want your publication to look and feel a little different, and like illustration that encourages the imagination and doesn't talk down to the reader, we probably speak the same language. If so, please get in touch!
BEFORE YOU REQUEST FOR QUOTE!
If you request a quote on a graphic novel collaboration, please note the following:
-Graphic novel process requires detailed visual research, character development, thumbnails, pencils, inking, lettering, colour, then preparing the files for print and digital. I strongly advise you to research this process, plus recommended pricing, before submitting your brief.
-If you need assistance I am happy to point you in the direction of some good resources for writers and publishers working with comic artists looking to compile a brief.
-My graphic novel page rates are based on current median US page rates for an indie comic creator. Please take this into consideration before preparing your budget.
-My illustration rates are based on the published 2025 ASA (Australian Society of Authors) rates, which are regularly reviewed based on member submissions.
REGARDING AI
I do not use any AI tools to generate my work - either during the ideation process or my output. With the huge amount of ethical, legal and environmental issues around AI-generated writing and images, I cannot partner with people who put their name to AI-created work.
