Rebecca Dyer – Editor

UK proofreader, editor and writer with 17 years' professional experience, specialising in adult and children's fiction, travel and memoirs.

Overview

I am a copy-editor and proofreader with more than 16 years of professional experience, and I would love to help you perfect your manuscript. I am particularly keen to work with travel, fiction and memoir writers but I will consider requests covering all subject areas.

Recent projects include adult and children's fiction, memoirs, self-help manuals, YA fiction, poetry, guidebooks for Lost Guides and Lonely Planet, magazines (including Harrods, Weight Watchers and Women's Weekly), websites (including Retail Week and Drapers) and newspapers (including The Independent, The Guardian, the i newspaper and The Sunday Times).

In addition, I am a writer myself, of both fiction and memoir, and have had short stories published in anthologies by Spread the Word, Writefluence and the Parracombe Prize. As someone who writes myself, I understand the perspective of authors seeking editors and will aim to handle your work with both the sensitivity and honesty it deserves.

Rebecca was excellent to work with and gave very insightful feedback for my novel. She answered questions beautifully and promptly. It was a pleasure working with her and I confidently recommend her for any project. Though my book was somewhat of an odd one, and I myself am new to long format writing, Rebecca was patient and knew exactly what to do. She is a true professional!

Rebecca certainly deserves 5 stars. She did a wonderful job of proofreading my manuscript and I learned a good deal from her careful corrections. She also answered all my questions and even did some development editing which was incredibly helpful. I cannot recommend her highly enough—a big 'thank you' Rebecca! (Exclamation mark intended—I would have put a smiling emoji but that's not possi...

Rebecca was great! She had very useful feedback and gave me thoughts on areas of improvement I had not thought about myself. I rated 4 out of 5 stars on value mainly because I don’t have anything to compare it to. I would definitely use Rebecca again!

I used Rebecca to proofread my novel and she did a fantastic job. Her attention to detail was brilliant and she clearly explained any changes which has been so helpful. She was honest about her deadline and answered any communications quickly. She even went a bit beyond her role as a proofreader by making a few suggestions where elements didn't make sense. I would highly recommend her and hope ...
