Lisa Cordaro

Lisa Cordaro – Editor

A seasoned non-fiction editor with more than 30 years' experience in the publishing industry, 11 of which in-house before going freelance.

Overview

I help people to achieve clear and engaging communication. Your writing is your legacy, and it matters.

I work with independent non-fiction authors and self-publishers, publishers, businesses and organisations. Friendly, accurate and expert editing and advice.

I'm an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), the UK industry professional society. The CIEP's Code of Conduct binds its members to ethical standards and excellence. I'm also a full member of ACES (American Copy Editors Society).

As well as line and copy-editing and proofreading, I provide manuscript critique, development and structural editing to authors planning to self-publish, or who are looking to query agents and/or publishers for a book deal.

I also help authors repurpose content. If you have content that you would like to publish in book format, I can support you through the process, shaping and editing it to create a great product.

WHAT MY CLIENTS SAY:

‘My wonderful editor, Lisa, shaped this into the helpful guide it was always meant to be: her insights and experience have been invaluable.’

Julia Elliott Brown, author

RAISE: The Female Founder’s Guide to Securing Investment

Shortlisted, Business Book Awards 2023

Amazon bestseller

‘I would like to pay special thanks to my editor, Lisa. Writing a book for the first time and handing it over to someone else for scrutiny is a daunting prospect.

From the very first communication we had, Lisa was able to grasp the vision I had for the project. Her encouragement, professionalism and sharp business acumen have helped to make this book far better than it otherwise would have been.’

Dave Holloway, author

Wonder Leads: Remarkable Lead Generation for Positive Small Businesses

Axiom Business Book Awards 2021 – Silver Medal

Shortlisted, Business Book Awards 2021

2x Amazon bestseller

My approach is supportive, sensitive and honest. At the start of a project I talk it over with you to learn about your needs and outline the process. Both author and editor should be compatible, so my aim every time is to get the creative mix right.

Every project is bespoke, because every author and their manuscript have their own needs. I understand just how much work goes into your writing, because I write too.

My vocation is to help your project succeed.

As a first time author, and having not written anything of any length, ever, I needed a lot of help through the process. Lisa is thorough, patient and skilled. I suspect i tested that patience several times, but we achieved a great result together and my book is very much improved by our collaboration. Thank you Lisa!

First of all my experience using Reedsy has been really good and I am confident in saying that if I had to source an editor without Reedsy’s help, it would have taken me a lot longer to finish my book, a project I have been working on for two years and is now finally done. When you reach the stage of finalising the manuscript, you just want to get the rest done as soon as you can to finally see...
