Pauline Penhouët – Designer

Hi there! I'm Pauline, a professional freelance illustrator of six years, working in a lot of different creative fields, like character design for video game or animation, and commercial illustration.

I have been working with other creatives, like writers, art directors, game designers, graphic designers, as well as people that don't have a lot of knowledge on visual development or art. With all these experiences I learned that communication is key, and that is why I am always the most attentive to my clients needs and visions for their projects.

I am also an author myself, working on my first graphic novel for teens, so I understand how important it is, and what it takes, to create a beautiful book project.

In my gallery you will find a few exemples of my illustration style, that can be describe as, sweet, soft, colorful, and dreamy. You will see that I worked on different genres like fantasy, or slice of life, but almost always for a young audience. I use mostly digital tools to create my artworks but I often try to give them that traditional feel. I can also adjust my style, to fit your needs more, if we agree on it beforehand.

Depending on your project, it can take a shorter or longer amount of time to get you a finalized illustration and it could be more or less expensive, so it is really important that we determine everything beforehand.

You need to ask yourself questions like : what is my deadline? What budget can I provide for the artwork? How much illustration do I need for my project? How detailed and complex do I want the illustration to be? Do I want an illustration for a cover? For an entire picture book? For both? For just a few illustrations inside my book?

If you have all the answers ready, that is great and it will save us some time, but don't worry if you are unsure, or if you need to talk with me in order to take your final decision, because my usual process is to discuss your project in details, and to decide together on the direction to take.

Usually the more time and bigger budget provided, the more illustrations with complex concepts and details can be created.

It will all depend on what you need, and then I will propose a few concepts to you, until you fall in love with something to start with.

We will keep in touch, every step of the way, for your approval to make sure we are going the way you want and envisionned for your project.

I personally love solving problems and finding creative ideas, so you can trust me on doing my most at every step.
