My name is Nate Fakes. I’m a full-time cartoonist in Los Angeles, California. I reside as an in-house cartoonist for an agency where I create Red Bull cartoons for worldwide advertising campaigns. I also have a syndicated series, Break of Day, that is read daily worldwide in print and online. My work also appears in MAD Magazine, New York Times, greeting cards, books, ads and just about anywhere that appreciates my off-the-wall humor. Some of my biggest clients are 21st Century Fox, Warner Bros. and Costco.

I enjoy creating fun, engaging content. Many authors use - not just illustrators - but cartoonists to help add some humor to their work. My specialty is creating custom illustrations and cartoons that collaborate with the context of a publication. I've been creating illustrations and cartoons for publications for over a decade and can create content that would be uniquely yours.

All this being said, I have a strong work ethic and I am a professional. Knowing my work is going to be out in the public eye, I ensure it is the best.

When most people think about God, they picture a grumpy old man in the sky handing out impossible rules and smiting people. It s not often that we have the opportunity to see God as the inventor of humor and a connoisseur of friendship. Knocking on Heaven s Door explores the relationship between a little boy named Spencer and his best friend God. This collection of comic strips (with behind-th... read more

In June of 2015, a conversation took place between Mark Nelson O’Brien and Nate Fakes that would change the course of world history. Well … maybe not the history of the whole world. But it would certainly change the lives and the histories of the two chuckleheads who participated in the conversation. Here’s the entirety of that conversation, transcribed for posterity, enshrined in the Library o... read more

Nate was great to work with; he was patient and provided constructive feedback and great illustrations. He also took the time to educate me on a few areas in publishing that were new to me. Highly recommended. Looking forward to working with him again.

Nate is a pleasure to work with and I would definitely hire him again for a future project! Working with Nate has been great in all aspects of the project. His work is top quality, he communicates clearly and promptly, and, even with changes to the project's scope, he worked to make sure that he met the project deadline.

Working with Nate is a dream. He is highly skilled (see his resume), very intuitive, and flexible. I had the pleasure of working with Nate for the past month or so. He created the cover for my ebook. He did everything I asked and more. The schedule was pushed back and he was fine with it. We did multiple revisions and he was always more than happy to keep working until the job was done. I highl...

Working with Nate was a pleasure from the start. He not only went along with my ideas but suggested valuable input. The turnaround time was excellent and the finished artwork was spot on for my novel. Highly recommended.

Please see previous reviews. Nate Fakes has been working with me on a book as illustrator, copy & design and also has had responsibility for final production of the book, "Too Late, Mate?" This was the final stage of the project in which we made some revisions before launching a final edition. The result has been very satisfactory indeed and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommendi...
