Nate Fakes

Nate Fakes – Designer

Los Angeles-based illustrator and syndicated cartoonist featured in the NY Times, MAD Magazine, Red Bull advertising, and Scholastic.

Overview

My name is Nate. I'm a full-time syndicated cartoonist with King Features and published in over 80 newspapers daily. I'm also an author, graphic novelist, and children's book illustrator. I live in Los Angeles, California.

I've worked as an in-house cartoonist for an agency where I created Red Bull cartoons for worldwide advertising campaigns with storyboards, print ads, digital ads, and television commercials. I also have a syndicated series, Break of Day, which is read daily in newspapers worldwide. Plus, I'm a published author with my graphic memoir, A FADE OF LIGHT.

My work has appeared in MAD Magazine, the New York Times, greeting cards, books, major ads, and just about anywhere that appreciates my humor and art. Some of my biggest clients are Disney, Scholastic, and Warner Bros.

I'm also a strong social media presence, with close to 100K followers on Instagram.

Additionally, I'm a proud member of the National Cartoonists Society and ASIFA Hollywood.

I'm primarily interested in illustration, cartooning/comics, children's books, graphic novels, and cover art. Preferably anything with a humorous twist. However, I'm open to projects of all kinds.

I ensure that any project I take on is the best I can possibly do. I never publish anything that isn't up to my professional standards. Additionally, I communicate well and consider each project a team effort. My clients get a detailed schedule to ensure we're always on track to complete on time, rough drafts, finals, and recommendations on what you'll need to make your book the best it can be. Nothing leaves the gate without both of our stamps of approval.

I had an outstanding experience working with Nate F. Nate was always professional, efficient, timely and provided great suggestions for how his art work could enhance my book. Nate designed the cover and interior illustrations for my book which are absolutely creative, ingenious, colorful and fun! In fact, the illustrations tell the story of my book better than the words do. I give Nate F....

I can't recommend Nate highly enough. I'm thrilled with the illustrations he's done for my childrens' book, "The Goats Wrote a Note". In his unique style, he's brought my story to life. He's been patient, encouraging, responsive and wonderfully intuitive in blending everything I wanted with his own magic touch. As this was my first childrens' book, he went above and beyond in answering my cou...

I wrote a book that played off on the immortality of cryptocurrency versus the mortality of people. Because the theme was both dark and technical, I wanted artwork for the book that was light hearted and comical. The artwork was for the front and back covers and the headers for each chapter. Nate F. created a great character who was the central actor for the book. In addition, Nate created ca...

Nate was great to work with; he was patient and provided constructive feedback and great illustrations. He also took the time to educate me on a few areas in publishing that were new to me. Highly recommended. Looking forward to working with him again.
