Mike Shiell – Designer

I’m a children’s book author/illustrator, cartoonist, character designer, director, and animation creative with 30+ years of experience bringing characters and stories to life across publishing, television, and licensed products.

I love creating fun and quirky characters and illustrations that "up the funny level" of already humorous stories.

I’ve illustrated 11 popular and award-winning children’s books and authored/illustrated three more. My titles include Linty: A Pocketful of Adventure, Poopy, Germy and Stinky Science, and three books in Ashley Spires’ Agent Binky series.

In animation, I’ve held senior creative and leadership roles on Emmy Award-winning and internationally successful productions such as The Backyardigans and Mike the Knight and I’ve created two original series of award winning animated shorts.

I've have also created and designed characters for a number of kid's shows, books and advertising projects.

Along the way, I’ve also written and illustrated humorous greeting cards that have sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide.
