I am a book cover designer and illustrator working in professional publishing, with more than ten years’ experience. I have a particular interest in thrillers, crime, and mystery novels. I have been fortunate to work with many New York Times bestselling authors, celebrities, and some of the top publishers in the world. My designs have been featured on the cover of Publishers Weekly, in The Huffington Post and the San Francisco Chronicle, and on the TODAY show, to name a few. My work has also been featured at numerous book conferences including Book Expo America (BEA) in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
When I’m not designing and reading, I devote my time as a recovering guitarist and wandering through the Appalachian Mountains.
Worked closely in collaboration with editorial and marketing departments to execute compelling, high-quality designs that clearly represented the text. Illustrated and photographed elements to contribute to designs. Provided art direction to and assisted the selecting of other designers and photographers. Created competitive designs that moved beyond function, that interacted and evolved with the reading of the text. Presented comps and represented them for approval. Prepared mechanicals for printer.
Responsible for all stages of the design process from manuscript to bound book, including creating, illustrating, photographing, and designing covers; providing art direction to other designers; submitting comps; and preparing covers and jackets for printer.
