Mark Butcher – Designer

Hello!

I'm Mark, a children's book designer and art director with 20 years experience at award-winning children's publisher Walker Books.

I've worked on a broad range of books, designing covers and interiors for sticker and activity books, fiction, illustrated fiction, picture books, humour titles, and graphic novels.

I've helped develop new illustrated series and characters from scratch.

I've designed and art directed the globally popular Where's Wally? series of search-and-find picture books, expanding that range into exciting new directions.

Alongside my creative knowledge I've got great technical expertise in preparing books for press, complex artworking and typesetting.

I'm excited to help with your publishing project. I love working collaboratively bringing ideas and enthusiasm alongside great design knowledge, industry experience and technical expertise.

I'm ready to join you at the start of your book giving it the best possible cover design, typography, branding and interior layout or to jump in at any point on your journey, getting things up to speed, solving any problems, amending art and ensuring things go smoothly at press stage.
