Overview
My experience as a proofreader in commercial fiction comes from working with a wide range of authors and storytelling styles, giving me a strong awareness of reader expectations, pacing and consistency across multiple genres.
I trained with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and am a Professional Member, which means I've completed over 500 hours of proofreading work, completed high-quality CIEP training, received a satisfactory reference from a publishing client, and passed CIEP's editorial test. This reflects both my experience and my commitment to working to recognised industry standards.
Proofreading is the final stage in the editorial process before publication. I carry out a word-by-word check of your manuscript to catch any last-minute errors that may have slipped through earlier rounds of editing. This includes spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency and layout issues – so your book is clean, polished and ready for its readers.
I'm friendly, trustworthy and believe in a collaborative approach. I work closely with authors to make the process smooth and supportive, always respecting deadlines. Just as importantly, I'm mindful of preserving your unique voice, ensuring any corrections enhance clarity without compromising your style.
I approach each project with care, passion and pride, understanding the trust you place in me as your proofreader.
